Welcome to Goma - Isabelle Collombat
Elsa, an 18-year-old girl, dreams of becoming a photojournalist. As an intern at a radio station, she sets off for the city of Goma in Zaire, where survivors of the Rwandan genocide have taken refuge. She discovers the world of humanitarians, present on all the hot fronts, driven by the urgency to live. As a young journalist, Isabelle Collombat was sent to Goma in Zaire, just after the Rwandan genocide. This novel is directly based on what she experienced live, which we think is important to point out. It is also a discovery of the profession of journalist, both of this commitment which can be fascinating, but also of its illusions and paradoxes.
